Proof I Didn't Fall Off the Earth...

So I've been MIA on CraftyFamily the last 6 or so months.  Don't worry I haven't gone dormat- just frantically crazy and everytime I would tell myself to sit down and blog about the project I just completed- it would be weeks later... So here's round up of the last few months and the crafts that have resulted from them.

My friend, Jenn, requested a couple of subway art pieces.  The first is an original.  She needed a camping piece for a baby shower.  I have 2 girls so I know nothing about camping.  Thank goodness for google.

The second is a re-make of something she found on Pinterest.  Blogger won't let me upload the final piece but you get the idea.  I love how they both turned out.

I stole this one from my sister (Thanks, Jenny).  It's a filing folder crate from Staples with a file for each of us, one for coupons, and of course one is miscellaneous.  I keep school pictures, cards from Aunts, articles from friends at school in them or just the junk that piles on the kitchen counter.  I googled printable claendars and found this one.  Voila!

My friend, Lauren, had a Pinterest party at her house and we started the next two crafts at her house.  Imagine this first one stapled to a post with a beautiful burlap bow (Thanks Jenny again).  I hate my freehand writing and stenciling & I are no longer talking.  So, thank goodness for DJ Inkers font, my laptop and the projector.  I wish Andy took a picture of me tracing the letters.  It was super ridiculous but turned out amazing.

This next one is a mason jar & candle stick glued together.  I'm not big into Halloween decorations but this I can handle.  And I mean it holds candy...

Every Halloween since Natalie was born I give candygrams to a few people at work & Natalie's teachers.  This year we made a Frakenstein foot.  Black toes, green foot, googly eyes, sharpie marker & ribbon.  Done.

This Halloween I set alot of high goals for myself.  Natalie wanted to be a mermaid so naturally Livi would be as well.  My friend, Michele, found a towel mermaid tail on Pinterest and it was all down hill from there.  So I bought to towels, ribbon, batting, and procrastinated for about 2 weeks.  Thank goodness my mother-in-law is good with a sewing machine!  I traced the shell bra out of beige felt & made a starfish for their hair and ribbon belt.  They looked super adorable!

I had to stay home with Livi one day so instead of doing something around the house or finishing something I started I thought I would go to Joann's...  I came back with 2 projects to complete.  I really love how this wreath turned out.  I love making these felt flowers.  The s is just a wooden letter wrapped with twine.  It's not pretty up close and I think I only have 4 viable fingerprints left but I love it.

This next one started out as a Christmas picture prop but when it was made and stored on the tree then left in on the driveway when we went to take our pictures- it permanently became a tree decoration.  Which is fine because it would have clashed with the girls' bathing suits.  Everything happens for a reason...  I think i adjusted it everytime I would walk by the tree but it did look nice.

How I love and loathe Pinterest at times...  This is a family thumbprint ornament.  I love the scalloped edges and the size differences in our thumbs.  I just wish I did it last year for our first Christmas as a family and that there were less cracks in it...  BUT I LOVE IT.

Ok so that should catch you up to present day.  Won't do that again...

Livi's Minnie-tastic Day

I can't believe Olivia will be 1 on Tuesday.  Why have the last 361 days flown by so quickly!?!?  I feel like it was yesterday that we came home with her...
Today she was surrounded by friends and family who love her dearly but also those who couldn't (due to thousands of miles that separate us).  I wouldn't have been able to pull this one off without my husband.  He is a trooper and simply amazing.  Even though I think we both agree that park parties are the way to go!
I planned a sweet little Minnie Mouse birthday party for Livi and this is how it turned out...

Super sweet

:)

Yarn wrapped wreath.  This time with fun carpet making yarn.  Felt Minnie and scalloped sign.

Happy Birthday sign at front door.

Minnies everywhere

Love writing on mirrors with EXPO markers!  Saved so much on ribbon.

Had leaftover yarn and used it to hang some Minnies in the play area.

Another mirror bunting

Made the subway art.  This was my inspiration

Cupcake toppers

12 months of Livi!

Food signs. LOVE how these came out!

She was unimpressed with our singing...

She just wanted to play with the icing.

Watch me as I slap some in my hair!

Love this face!

It was a great day and she is now dreaming about how fun it will be to be ONE!  While her Mommy drags herself to the fridge for a glass of wine and an emotional trip down Memory Lane.  The days are long but the years are short!
After I snap out of this it's off to plan Natalie's Tangled Party!

Hope your day was a happy as Livi's!

Stay Calm & Taste the Rainbow!

This St. Patrick's Day I decided to make "St. Patrick's Day in a jar".  This is what you will need:

- Mason jars (Dollar Tree)
- Skittles (a bag per jar- you'll use 2 handfuls of each color)
- Rolos (Dollar Tree)
- Marshmallows (a handful for each jar)
- Ribbon
- Tag

I made 3 for Natalie's teachers and 1 for my sister (who watches Olivia).  That is why the printable tags are not all the same- the tops left one is different.

Leesa Dykstra printable
Everyone loved them and they were simple to make!

P.S.- We are currently cleaning up Natalie's play room.  Hope a leprechaun doesn't come mess everything up and lead us on a treasure hunt for his gold!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Here are a few things I put together this holiday season...
An advent calendar.  It was Pinterest inspired.  I heart bunting and polka dot ribbon!
I cute out triangles for the bunting and glued 2 together (just on the edge) creating a pocket.  I then glued them onto the ribbon, added the numbers and daily activities.  I plugged in our local events (parades, breakfast with Santa) and then the rest were similar to- make a paper wreath, bake cookies, donate books, etc.  Nat loved it!

The Christmas subway art is from here.

Happy Holidays from the Scott sisters!
LOVE!
I hope your holidays were filled with lots of love, laughter and creativity!

Lady O's Baptism

A couple weeks ago {prior to the 2 week vacation} Olivia was baptized.  It was a wonderful ceremony and we were surrounded by the best people.  We asked my cousin, Lisa, and Andy's good friend, Ken, to be Livi's Godparents.  Here is a round-up of the prep and celebration...

{MENU}
lunch meat sandwiches, cheese/crackers, fruit, pasta salad, key lime cheese ball with graham crackers, chocolate dipped pretzels, chocolate stuffed raspberries, and cupcakes.

This is to show how silly that a box of cupcakes make 24 but my stand only holds 23...
 {DECOR}
Handmade Baptism Subway Art, Ribbon Topiary Tree, and Wreath.
This was during the process. It's Mimi getting her hair did...

Again the day was great.  The kids jumped in the pool after the party and had a blast.  Thanks so much to everyone who helped out {even during our A/C crisis}.  What fabulous people Livi has in her life to help celebrate all these special days with her.  Here's some love from her...

All Tied Up In Blue

This past weekend I helped throw a baby shower for my sister, Jenny, and the first boy in the Kluga family, "Cooper".  It was a lot of fun to put together and it was just icing on the cake that I was able to do it with such amazing ladies- Mema, Aunt Em and the Wonderful Cake ladies (Mandy, Melissa & Sandy).
I fell in love with this tie bunting and the theme was set!
I saw a yarn wrapped wreath on Pinterest and I just had to do it.  It wasn't my favorite thing in the process (I thought my wrists were going to detach from my arms) but I love how it turned out.  I followed the tutorial for the felt flowers here and everything was bought at JoAnn's.

My Mom was planning on doing a diaper cake so I decided I would tackle a diaper tricycle.  Of course, after I made it I found a motorcycle which would have been cute too.  But again, I am really happy with how it turned out.

The one and only game was the traditional "Don't say baby" game but with a little twist.  Jenny and Andy don't have a name picked out so we added the word "name" to the game.  They had to be little bowties and neckties to go with the theme.  This was probably the cutest part of the party.  Congrats to Dawn!  Hope your Starbucks was delicious!

In addition to the game- I put together these "Advice Cards".  Guests were able to pick who they were giving the advice to and write it below.  I wish I had this passed out while Jenny was opening presents.  It would have been cute getting one from each guest.  There's always next time...

The bunting!!!  I bought the scrap booking paper from Joann's and traced the bow ties and neckties then attached them on the ribbon.  One said 'Mommy's Little Man', another said 'Daddy's Little Buddy' and the last one said 'Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy'.  They were super cute!

Favors are a hard thing to decide on.  You want something cute but something guests won't throw away.  Insert Mema and Aunt Em!  Sugar bow tie and necktie cookies!  There were 2 tags- "All tied up in blue for the little man's debut" and "All tied up in blue- sending our love to the Armanious crew".  They were a hit!

The cake was from JJ Gandy's and the Cake Ladies do not dissapoint!  It was delicious and super cute!  Bravo girls and thank you again!

I came across this subway art in one of the baby shower blogs I found.  The best part was that it was FREE!!!  Thank you Simple Crafter!  The washcloth cupcakes were fun to make too.  I found a cupcake sleeve template, wrapped the washcloths and added the red pom pom for a cherry.

I enjoyed playing with all the blue and bow ties but my Andy is happy to have me back...for the moment.
